Very happy about iOS 5 and Mac OS X Lion, i'm guessing MobileMe will also be revamped as well in the conference.
But, i can't believe Hardware won't be previewed this time. I was hoping to see some nice new iMacs with Lion, but more importantly iPhone 5. Hoping for an earlier launch date.

Why would you need GPS for a route you take daily? Traffic, I suppose...but still?
I imagine some people's jobs may require them to stay within the same general region, but travel areas that they're not totally familiar with: delivery drivers, shuttle drivers, taxis, etc.

well until i have friendly user interface, imovie to edit my movies, final cut pro to my more experinced work, idvd for my easy to do dvds, and dvd studio pro, itunes for my music, stability which i dont get in windows xp, a laptop that looks as good as it functions i may be all windows. the ONE thing i hate about windows is when it screws up i gotta format and start over, with my mac i can put in the cd, hold down the c key, and reinstall the system while all my stuff is un touched. me switching to completly to mac has a much shorter list than my list to switch completly to pc. if my mac gets the games i play i will no longer have a pc.

The only people who like these ads are mac users. They make the zealots feel special and supperior which might have been the whole point. As said before, you never get customers by making fun of them. These ads only alienate POTENTIAL customers, thats not a success and its not brilliant. So far apple users are the only ones defending these ads as representing products rather than the people who use the products. If everyone else doesnt see it the same way then the ad is a failure no matter how much people argue, once the target audience misses the point then youve lost. Youll get absolutely nowhere asking "are these ads elistist?" on a mac forum, go ask it on a forum with a high number of PC users and Im sure the responses will be 100% different. Computers arent cheap, if you make fun of someone who spent a lot of money on something, something they probably like a lot, youll just make them defend themselves if you act like they made a stupid decision. I mean jeez, how is that not common sense?
While Im sure they made a few sales with the ads (or pushed a lot of people on the edge of getting a mac back over to the PC side), they could have made MUCH better ones that didnt make fun of potential customers. HP's commercials are good examples of how to sell a computer, they show celebrities and all the things they do on their laptop. Someone new to computers is going to see that ad much more favorably over the apple ad since it actually shows why they should get a computer rather than how stupid everyone else is for not having a mac.

Competition is great too. *I am very happy that you are in a sucessful Mac oriented business. We are a community and facing hard times. We both have to work together to get our marketshare up so we can get more shelf space. The amount of non-game software space is very dismal.* To buy a $2500 desktop Mac pro and see very little shelf units can be a hard purchase versus going into Best Buy and seeing rows of PC software.*

The only issues that are currently variable between you, me , and general Mac developer population (750K+ according to the keynote)* are 1 and 2.
#3 is based on #1 and #2 and we are all coding to the same APIs here using the same tools.

I'm done from being in the office all day doing .Net development or maintaing others crappy code.* Plus its just me.. So how am I supposed to take this news?
Same thought. Why cant people just (I know this sounds crazy) listen to CR when they make factually based reviews (i.e., iPhone 4 antenna design CAN lead to dropped calls). I hate this blind bias some folks have on here.

I looked into the 360 Arcade version and balked immediately because it sounds like something for people who never want to save a game.
The Arcade units have built in 256MB for game saves, so that isn't an issue. Of if you need more space, any USB drive can be formatted to use as well.

So did any of you in the US get your 3DS and what are your feelings about it ? Do you share similar thoughts as I have expressed ? :)
I read what you said about black and was about to do it. THEN, I pulled out my DS -- which is black, and powered it on, as I "was" going to trade it in, and then noticed I couldn't read the buttons in my lighting. :)
Anyways, I went to Target and got a blue one, but only because of that. I can read the buttons here in my place.
Anyways, i just opened by box and turned it on, so I need to set it up. The included book for this thing is HUGE! I can't recall any other Nintendo device I've owned having an instruction book this big.
I like the weight of this thing, it's nice! And the music is vibrating the top screen. :S
OK... WOW, that Nintendo 3DS test they did was WEIRD! :eek: Blah, I'll ramble more later, but not like it matters. :)

If this thing had a GBA slot, I would have traded in my DS. Anyways, the 3D is a trip -- at least the rotating menu scre, but I wouldn't use it while moving.
I only picked up Pilot Wings, so going to give it a try.

Why does this thing have a gyro scope, if shifting the screen slightly kills the 3D effect? Anyways, I'm glad I can turn it off, but it's cool when the screen is just right. I'm just moving my 3DS too much with this game I guess.

One last ramble for now. I don't like the gloss finish and how it feels! I didn't this on my DS Lite. Why can't they release a matte finish? The original DS was matte an my wife's red and black DS has a matte bottom.

Here's the gist of the problem: too generous state worker union pensions. I wouldn't be surprised that these pensions are extensively re-done to drastically cut its cost in order to reduce state budget deficits.
So, the bad guys are the teachers, firefighters, police, tax collectors, engineers, paper pushers, etc... who are employed by the government? So, it's their fault that corporations and individuals aren't paying (or avoiding paying) sufficient taxes to pay for the spending that was enacted by elected officials?
Good to know who you blame for not being able to afford things like more oil subsidies, tax breaks for companies like GE, and lowering estate taxes on high value estates.
Not that surprising considering the efforts to now radically cut programs for the poor, sick and elderly.

So, the bad guys are the teachers, firefighters, police, tax collectors, engineers, paper pushers, etc... who are employed by the government? So, it's their fault that corporations and individuals aren't paying (or avoiding paying) sufficient taxes to pay for the spending that was enacted by elected officials?
Good to know who you blame for not being able to afford things like more oil subsidies, tax breaks for companies like GE, and lowering estate taxes on high value estates.
Not that surprising considering the efforts to now radically cut programs for the poor, sick and elderly.
(edit) How many BILLIONS of dollars in bribe money have been "lost" or "misplaced" or "stolen" in Iraq and Afghanistan? Billions with a B. Enough to fund the 14-16 billion dollar cost of extending unemployment 14 more weeks? In the past three years, over $3 billion in CASH was flown out of Kabul reports the Wall Street Journal. When Apple aired those Intel ads of the Intel fab plant talking about dull PCs, a lot of PC users got angry over that. There was quite a backlash against Apple when they do negative advertising like that, simply making PC users look stupid (which they are of course ;)). It harkens back to the days, post-1984 ad, when they shown PC users as lemmings walking off a cliff. Hehe. :)

Look up anything about how both Sony and Apple operate internally and what they do in their respective fields and tell me the facepalm isn't relevant.
