I think many a times we over analyze things. It does not matter what the common people think about legal immigrants. Most people do not care. Even if they do, it does not affect us in any way, because rules are made by politicians not by men in the streets. And most polticians do care about immigrants, but only the illegals ones, because it is their future vote bank. For legals the only hope is companies like Microsoft, with a big fat wallet. Just pray that the economy keeps going at the current pace or else there could more trouble for us.
Leadership or Money is not issue for getting results. Why there is so much oppositon to H1b and GC increase? There is a fear in certain american people that they may lose job to the low wage H1b people. Is anyone either corportions or Pro-immigrants trying to remove the fear? Is skill bill has any protection to american workers? We want to increase to h1b or gc without botherng the impact. Now USA really need more h1bs and gcs. But are we suggesting anything when job growth stops or recession happens? Rememember so many people were laid off between 2000 to 2003 including H1b people and Americans but that time also most of 195k h1b was used. I knew lot of people

I do think a lot of times that Hillary has a better handle of issues and she is very articulate. Billary (yes Billary) concerns me. I think it is going to be tough to be just Hillary and not Billary.She had a good answer for it last night but it is hard beleive there will be no Billary. I appeared for an interview on Jan 2nd. It took the consulate officers 16 days to call me and ask for original documents again. Darn PIMS verification! I resubmitted the documents on Jan 22nd through the drop box... and have been calling them daily to track the progress. They say they need 7 working days from the day the documents are received. I have already had to reschedule the flights once..and my employer is getting worried now. If I had known about the delays at Chennai post before, I wont have applied here. Chennai sux!!!

Apply for I-485, if you find the "right" partner before approval get married asap. If not, find the "right" partner in US and get married. Finding the right partner is equally important as getting a GC. Dont rush it guys!:D

Just wondering how we can make this a paid site which works and where everyone wins. Here are some thoughts in the wee hours:

a) can post without restriction.
b) get important updates
2) If you don't have a monthly contribution -
a) Your first 5 posts are free
b) After that you can buy "points" to post on IV (say minimum chunk of 25 points for $50 bucks).
To post a message, it costs you a point. If you have a question, then a couple of bucks is a small amount to have your questions answered. However, without incentive people will not answer questions (because it would also cost to post responses/experiences). So, lets say I post a response to your question, then if you (or any member who posted before me) thinks that my response was useful, and adds value to that thread, can give me a "+" which adds to my chunk of points.
This way, only people who have serious queries will post their questions, and those who are confident about their answers will post a response. It will reduce noise on the website and will become a better resource of information. Unfortunately a lot of good stuff gets lost between people venting their frustration and providing incorrect advice.
Ofcourse, we can make certain threads free to post - such as the funding drive, media drive, state chapters etc.
If you really really want lots of responses to your questions, you could also sponsor a thread - say $25 bucks where anybody can post a response for free, for a limited time.

It does seem that continuous criticism has started getting to the core team.
I want to let core team know that I am 100% in full support of IV. I encourage other people who have not yet shown their support to IV to do the same. They need it.
It is sad to see people who are probably frustrated due to their situations or lack enough patience venting their anger on IV core team. I for one, don't seem to get enough time out of my routine to really do anything and really admire core team members for spending so much time on this issue which is of course of so much importance for all of us on this website.
The people lashing out at core members need to understand that IV is not a shop where you pay money and buy results. It is an attempt to take voice of skilled immigrants to lawmakers, and that is all. You should not expect anything else. Please understand what is causing the frustration and address that issue separately. Leave the core members alone.
As for core members, I would like to say thank you from bottom of my heart. Seeing core members lashing out at other members is not probably the best thing for IV, however I can understand the frustration of core members.
I just hope that most members realize the limitations of IV and have enough patience to weather out this phase of frustration without causing harm IV which in fact should be their only hope.

USA has a right to choose who they give green card to but not fool Indian people by swinging visa bulletin by 4 years every now and then. Not by discriminating. There should be some transparency to the process and law should be followed. If USA makes a law that Indians wont get GC in EB, I am happy to note. Can they remove their gloves?
I agree at fullest. Standing in line is one thing, and watching like a fool while others jump ahead of you is another. What is more disturbing is the law allowing this jumping process, and doing nothing about it.

Then there is no need to worry. FBi check is valid only for a certain period so that is the reason why they would have ordered for other check. Don't Worry you will get your greencard. But when your PD is current open a service request. i did mine when my Pd is current and got my Green card.

you may wish to google the nyt articles on how numbers usa operates to derail bills- they call! if our members would show the same enthusiasm and every single person would call when requested, we could have the same impact.

If we have enough of that to guarantee a decent source of recurring income like 20 40 k or whatevr, I dont see the need to deprive some depressed soul surfing the net looking for some reassuring information from having to goto bed in peace.

looking at the sarcastic, venomous and abusive responses, make me wonder why some people are so insecure and touchy. Why is there a my way or the highway mentality. Or may be some are happy living in illusion and don't wanna be shown some reality. couple of points
1) again none of us will be treated same as American. Some of you mention BO as role model, remember his mom was American and he was born in Hawaii. had he been born in Merrut, you wont have been talking bout him.
2) I got canadian PR not because i want to move there or anything. I got it cause its a good backup. If things dont go right in India, i can always come back for few more years. But this time it will be Canada. And before you guys start crying again, Canada has no problem with someone keeping a PR as long as he spends 2 out of 5 years in Canada.
Again, just the sheer number of people from India, China and Mexico running after PR ensures there is a long waiting line. No way around it. So either wait for your turn, or explore other alternative. If you want to spend time howling, crying and protesting, well good luck with that too. It only makes American look down on us as GC seeking lowly, noisy, needy immigrants.
Look up how immigration is done in NZ, AUS and Canada, that's a dignified way and then there is this USCIS way which humiliates you at every step. So the choice is there, its just tht we r too stuck with american GC

Just got back from the rally, i would say it was a big success. Media coverage on the issue was fantastic. I saw the ABC7 news truck. There were many reporters from SJ Mercury news, SF Chronicle etc. Crowd was good, dont want to speculate on numbers yet but we should have an official word soon.
Police were very friendly. The crowd was very enthusiastic and also obeyed the rules. All of us stayed on side walks. Logiclife and Frankilin among others were there. Many reporters spread out and spoke to people.
Lot of members from another groups called Immigration Rights also joined us.
We got lot of honks. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

However, please ALWAYS keep in view of the members who support you , by doing so, I believe your actions will represent 99% of the membership.

That is India time....
If you transfer less than 1000 USD to outside SBI, they will charge 25 rupees, the only problem is that they will not specify that charges any where in the transaction.....but it will be accurate all the time....
Just a correction SBI charges Rs. 25 for every transaction whether < 1000 or more.
Service charge of Rs.25/- (inclusive of Service Tax @ 12.36%) will be levied on every transaction where foreign currency conversion is carried out w.e.f. 16 May 2008.
