PD has nothing to do with approval and neither does biometrics. Once you have the reciept date of I-485 that becomes crucial. If that is after what USCIS is procesing then you have to wait like me :).
You should keep watching the processing date every month ( it changes usually around midddle of month). If your I-485 reciept date is before the uscis processing date and it has been more than 30 days you can call them to find status of your case.
Not true-Again..When PD is current, case is approved based on RD.But PD has to be CURRENT.

If you were born in the USA, there is no way to reject US Citizenship. Even after you take up Indian passport and citizenship, you can come anytime to the USA flash your birth certificate and then get a US Passport.

i suggested this idea to IV few times.. The only way ppl seem to get attention here is when you show unity and boycott.

A quick question on Canadian immigration(PR) - Can someone tell me as to typically how long the entire process takes if applied from US? Starting from aplying and getting the PR approved? thanks.
1. Download the form
2. Fill it
3. Supply all required documentation
4. If you did not live in the US in the past 5 years , if you lived elsewhere unless its india, you need to get the police report, for india they will do it.
5. You get all the transcripts of your college etc in sealed envelopes attested by the dept/school
6. Birth certificates, experience letters.
7. Send the application with the requisite fee, the form is easy to understand and fill, so you need no tutorial for that.
8. Once you file the application, right now based on the processing time, you will receive a letter assigning your application a file number. Keep this document , its very important.
9. Now your wait begins and it will last 48-52 weeks. 'YES' they will touch your file only after that much time. You will receive a request to complete medicals and fingerprints ( local police + any other private FP place ).
10. Once they receive all the information, you will be either called for an interview or you will directly get a letter saying send your passports for stamping.
11. Based on what you received( if interview is required you will go there to attend the interview) otherwise you send the pp and you will receive them stamped with immigrant visas.
On a broad level this is how it goes, you can check out country specific thread at the other portal - immigration dot com.

The maximum duration of a J-1 is 7 years but the visa is issued 1 year at a time (royal pain). Therefore there is nothing such as a transfer. When residency is over, if you get a fellowship the program files with ECFMG the necessary papers to prove that it's an accredited program etc It is ECFMG that sponsors you not your program/hospital. Each year the program informs ECFMG on your progress and based on that a new sponsorship for another year is granted.
After my first fellowship i was board certified. In order to specialize further I (and my new department) had to convince ECFMG that there was some merit in the whole proposal. anyway long story, they did sponsor me and I did another 2 years thus completing the entire 7 year period.
As for GC, my employer just started the process and insisted on choosing an expensive corporate lawyer they have worked with before. She is in no hurry and I don't know when I will even have a priority date let alone a GC. This is after 11 years here. such fun....

To err is human. Just tell them the mistake done and it will be corrected manually. I made a mistake too. I took two copies of the form with me - one hand corrected and the other without the correction. Show them both if needed.

I am seeing in CRIS, Soft LUD's on old H1B extentions dated 12/30/07 (2006,2007) while none recent one on 140/485!
Any ideas to help me understand. My 140/485 were filed in July 2007 concurrently. FP/EAD/AP were done.

Don't point to websites, its just too much reading and the HR might get the illusion that the process involves too much work whereas its not that bad..
I was in similar situation five years ago, all I did was during my final interview with HR I requested them and was able to refer an attorney. The attorney did a good job of preparing the documents and providing rosy sticky tags for HR's signature. That made HR's and manager's life so easy. In return, I'm the medium between my attorney and HR. So, you will have to sell it to HR and engg. manager that "its no big deal"....

Get a good attorney to solve this issue as practically speaking, you were out of status from period of 2006-2008 as your Company A's Approval overrided your university H1.

Which state are you from? Do they insist on Passport? In NC, if you have a valid drivers licence, all you need is a valid I797. They don't insist on the passport.

As the other member said, I have had no luch with phone/email from our embassy. Going in person "may" help, but since you mailed your application, they processing may be different.
