People were talking about proof...
From Wikipedia
Utilitarian arguments against torture
There is a strong utilitarian argument against torture; namely, that there is simply no scientific evidence supporting its effectiveness.[96]
The lack of scientific basis for the effectiveness of torture as an interrogation techniques is summarized in a 2006 Intelligence Science Board report titled "EDUCING INFORMATION, Interrogation: Science and Art, Foundations for the Future".[97]
Those favoring torture have however pointed to some specific cases where torture has elicited true information.[98]

That last one hardly sounds empirical.

This is completely off topic but I had to say something-
My DP G5 and my 19" CRT monitor do a good job of keeping my bedroom in my 1 bedroom apt. pretty warm. (New England winters can get a bit cold)

AFAIK, there's no way to know.
There's no reinstallation 'ticker' or anything.
If there's a /Previous Systems/ directory at the root of the drive, you can see that it was reinstalled, but if it was erased/installed (or /Previous Systems/ was removed), you'll never know.

Can't say I've had any of those issues. I did have one issue with 4.3, and then with 4.3.1 with crazy battery drain. Turned out to be a hosed up Exchange thing. I deleted the email acct, and recreated it and poof. Battery issue fixed.
Looking forward to the "several enhancements" though. Wonder what those are???

Oh wow! Oh wait. I have four apps that already did all that when the iPad was first released. How about masks, brushes, stamp tools, and decent selection tools? Do they not know how far behind they are with this?
And all this debate over usefulness of the iPad. Forget it. If you are a creative professional and you have an iPad, and you haven't figured out to use it to make your work faster and better. I say you are lacking some creativity. I've been using the first iPad from day one for sketching, figure studies, portfolio reviews, etc. See for yourself on my website. It is no toy- if you know what you are doing.

it is more company like Samgsung have huge patent porfolios that they never really use unless they get sued and that is when they go looking threw it and saw Hmm "Apple is suing me what can I nail them on" Apple is currently starting to piss people off so they are going to start going threw their patents and hitting back.
Don't know why you were modded down you're absolutely correct. This is the way the system works.

Unless you made the music and the video, you have no rights to it. You need to contact either: 1. a lawyer; 2. the recording company; or 3. a lawyer.

You went back to school and you didn't learn how to bill or control a client? Your very first mistake was booking a $75 job with a 3 hour time limit. If that is all someone can afford, then don't work for them. In my experience, the cheaper they are, the more demanding they usually are. Your second mistake was giving the power to your client and not billing him for phone time. You didn't manage the job and you paid the price. I bet you didn't even have a signed contract.

I found a perfect little free Java app. It's called Mix2Stix (http://software.azett.com/index.php?cat=Mix2Stix)
It has a simple, easy to use interface and works on any platform (Windows, Linux, Mac...), with any storage device, and any file type. What more could you want?

Not necessarily, it could be a loss leader. Apple's margin on products is generally 35%, however.
Exactly. Or, the 3rd party that TJ Maxx got them from could have sold them to TJM for a slight loss or break even, just to move them. No one knows what TJ Maxx has paid for these, so no one can say they are making a profit. Even if they did sell them for a loss, it's probably more than made up for it in the amount of viral advertising they've gotten so far.

[WARNING: Faith-based opinion]
As a Buddhist, I believe that the mental state one has when they die provides the direction for their mind in their next life. Therefore, I support life in prison in order to give the convicted killer every opportunity to improve their mind and realize the error of their actions before they die. It's for both their benefit and the benefit of every being they encounter in their next life.
[/WARNING: Faith-based opinion]
I've argued with Christians on a similar point. Shouldn't they allow the killers to have the rest of their natural lives to accept Jesus as their savior? And by executing them, we're saying to Jesus, "in your face! We decide, not you!"
