I'm trying to change my Idisk Icon, but I can't find it in candybar under volumes or applications. Any Ideas? I'm on a trial version of .mac right now if that helps.

Releasing this now is the dumbest thing Apple has ever done.
I would think ousting Job's ranks a bit higher on that scale.

This is news? I heard about these things (and saw screenshots, and videos) back in August when people got ahold of the Leopard WWDC preview and broke their NDAs (or pirated it).Correct. This was leaked the day after Leopard Preview was released. Sheesh.

if you're building a PC, we'd love to know which parts you're going with, over clocking, etc. if you get a MBP, we want to know what kind of PPD your getting
I'll keep you updated. Currently I'm working on getting my 10 WU's in under my passkey (at 7 right now) and after that I'll shift the i7 iMac over to -bigadv to take advantage of the pts bonuses and then we'll see what it can really do. Hopefully some big PPD. I'm folding under the name 206pilot.

Hi Thanks for the advice. That email about the literal interpretation of "freelance" is insane! I hope you didn't have to deal with that person for very long :)
Thankfully I cut my ties with that person very quickly and ensure all of my work was NEVER used by them. It was when I was much greener so it was a good thing to learn and enable me to set some very good boundaries
1) Never work with a friend of a friend.
2) Never work for free.
3) Never work for a start up business UNLESS it has a larger group behind it (Public/private equity group, blue chip client with a new business, etc.. is ok).
4) Never do work for a religious organisation (seriously not a good idea). Or for that matter a union...
5) If you lie with dogs you'll get flees. Never work on a project you wouldn't want other clients seeing as a client of yours on your Portfolio.
6) Never work with a company where they can't speak your native language... Cheque time comes and "miso soli me no undastandy".
7) Be choosy about who you want to work with. Talented designers will always find work while talentless designers wont.
P.S. - love the peanuts/greedy monkey analogy. I think I'm learning the hard way, that there are indeed a lot of them out there. Someone needs to make an "Attack of the Greedy Monkey's" iphone app :)
I found in experience if you price yourself a certain way you tend to loose the "bottom feeding clients" as I like to call them. It also means the people who take up the service generally understand the price positioning thus have an idea of intrinsic value assigned to it.
Here's a links I've found rather amusing/helpful:
10 Client Personalities (http://www.graphicdesignblog.org/graphic-designers-client-personalities/)
Bad Clients and How to Avoid Them (http://freelancefolder.com/bad-clients-and-how-to-avoid-them/)
I also forgot about this gem of a client

I just got back from International Plaza in Tampa, FL and they have the new Second-Generation iPod Shuffle in the store. They are not on display. I went up to the counter and asked for one and the guy had 4 behind another display.
I didn't ask how many they had in stock, but there were at least 3 at the time I left.
Got it all set up. The sound quality puts my 20GB touch-wheel with full-size FireWire connector iPod to shame.
The packaging, as expected, is pretty cool too.
[I tried to be as specific as possible on my iPod naming conventions ;-)]

Hey, Apple!!!
Can you PLEASE include separate email signatures for separate email boxes?!?!?
+eleventybazillion!!!!!!!
Might want to check the signature app in the store. I've had it for over a year, you can choose up to 6 signatures. Use to be called signature pro, but my app says just Signature.
FWIW.

I love life in the melting pot, it's the one thing I really miss about living in London, there's just a degree of culture clash that you don't get outside of the capital.
I'm in London now and enjoying the mix of people. Nothing wrong with immigration and other people, "culture" isn't something that must be rigidly protected.

To get that much storage you would need 1,000,000,000,000 Mac Mini Servers which costed at full retail is 70x the US national debt.
Apple's 500,000 sq ft data centre usuing Doctor Q's 10 fot of usuable vertical space could hold 104,088,861 not accounting for heat dissapation cabling storage racks etc. Therefore you would need 9,607 data centres of the size of apple's current (which was rumored to cost $1billion). However that is a storage facility literally filled with no walking space between the racks or anything like that so a sensible suggestion would be to double that.
The total size of this project would be 9,607,000,000 sq ft or 344 sq miles. Turks and Caicos Islands (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turks_and_Caicos_Islands) happens to 366 sq miles, although to allow for expansion, shipping port/airport and power plants and other ancilallry buildings such as worker housing, supermarket and such I would suggest that Hong Kong with an area of 426 sq miles is a good place to start. Although given the high population of Hong Kong it isn't an ideal place to build such a facility, therefore the Faroe Islands with a size of 538 miles might be the first sensible place to wipe out. Alternatively you could just dump it in Texas/Alaska as they have plenty of land spare. Alaska would give you natural cooling which would be a bonus over Texas although can you image the series of Ice Road truckers, "In this haul is 100,000 Mac Minis."
All in all to go for something like large with some as inappropriate as a Mac Mini is a costly and ultimately bonkers idea.
Fingers crossed that the sums are correct.
But on the plus side, Apple would have 99% of the Global Market share in Personal Computers for the first time.

LOL. Yeah that proves it's him. I'm CIA, I know these things.
You don't believe me? He sent that to my eBay and now the auction is cancelled like he just said he was going to do. Sucks but I dont think that other guy is going to get his money back. Not like we are going to find out either.

Hi guys,
I bought myself 2x4Gb Corsair RAM modules.
My MP 2.8 Quad had 3Gb by stock. How do i organise the RAM modules inside the MP for maximum performance? Does placement matter?
I heard its important to have the RAM in multiples of 3. Does that mean i would be better off with 9gb (4, 4, 1) config. rather than a 10gb (4, 4, 1, 1)?
P.s I realise i will have to get rid of 1 of the modules :)
Thank you :)

what da heck happened to .Mac exclusive widgets?
these are things I want for .Mac (and I have been a user for 3 years).
1. increase of storage to 2gb.
2. price drop to somewhere close to $50.
3. integration of Leopard Mail features (such as Notes and stuff)
4. faster iDisk speed.
5. integration of iCal on .mac
maybe not all of them but at least some.
